About Me

Hi, I’m Bartosz Pater,
I am an Engineering Leader with over 14 years of experience in software engineering, architecture, and team leadership.
For many years, my work was about building software systems. I designed architecture, solved technical problems, improved delivery, and helped teams create better products.
Today, my work is still about building systems - but the system is different.
Now I build systems made of teams, products, and processes.
That means helping people work well together, creating clarity around priorities, improving how teams make decisions, and building an environment where engineers can do their best work.
My Background
Before moving deeper into leadership, I worked as a Senior Engineer, Software Architect, and Scrum Master. These roles taught me how good engineering really happens.
It is not only about clean code or strong technical decisions. It is also about trust, communication, ownership, and focus.
As an engineer, I learned how to build reliable software.
As a leader, I learned that teams also need reliable systems:
- Clear goals
- Healthy feedback
- Good decision-making
- Strong ownership
- Useful processes
- Space for people to grow
When these things are missing, even talented engineers can struggle. When they are present, teams move faster, solve better problems, and enjoy their work more.
Why I Created This Site
The move from engineer to engineering leader is not easy.
When I first stepped into leadership, I expected my technical experience to be enough. It helped, but it was not enough.
I had to learn how to:
- Delegate without losing control
- Give feedback without damaging trust
- Run better 1:1s
- Support people through difficult moments
- Think in outcomes, not only output
- Lead former peers with confidence and respect
Most advice I found was either too generic or too theoretical. I wanted something more practical. Something written for engineers who are learning how to lead.
That is why I created Engineering Leadership.
This site is my way of sharing the lessons, frameworks, and simple tools I wish I had earlier in my career.
