# FUKO Feedback Conversation Template

Use this page to prepare one feedback conversation. Write short notes, then speak naturally rather than reading the framework as a script.

FUKO comes from the Polish Fakty, Uczucia, Konsekwencje, Oczekiwania: Facts, Feelings, Consequences and Expectations.

## Facts

When and where did this happen? What did the person do or say that a camera or microphone could have captured?

> During [specific event], I saw or heard you [observable action]...

## Feelings

How did you feel about what happened? Name your own reaction without judging the person's motives or character.

> I felt [concerned, frustrated, relieved or grateful] because [what mattered to me]...

Avoid disguised judgements such as "I felt you were careless." The other person is not responsible for managing your emotions.

## Consequences

What changed because of that behaviour? Separate observed effects from assumptions.

> This resulted in [observed effect on the work, team, customer or relationship]...

## Expectations

What specific behaviour should happen at the next opportunity? For positive feedback, say what you would like the person to repeat.

> Next time, please [specific action] during or by [occasion or time]. What would help?

Check that the person has the time, information and authority to meet the expectation. Make clear which parts are open to discussion and which are required.

## Preparation Check

- Are the facts specific and observable, without personality labels?
- Have I named my own feeling without disguising a judgement?
- Can I support the consequences with something I observed?
- Is the expectation specific and within this person's control?
- Have I made clear what is required and what can be agreed together?
- Have I left room for context I may not know?

## The Other Person's Perspective

After describing the consequences, pause and ask:

- "What did you see differently?"
- "What was your intention?"
- "What would make the expectation practical?"

Update your understanding if new facts emerge. Discuss the expectation, agree on the next step and decide when to follow up.
